Tyler, remember that keen critical thinking is as important to good writing (if not more important) than structure, syntax, and "every last participle, tense, and citation style."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15723223913135742726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790062.post-38869533285879193922017-02-07T09:44:40.328-07:002017-02-07T09:44:40.328-07:00And here is an interesting article about a scienti...And here is an interesting article about a scientist/writer at Johns Hopkins: http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/institute_basic_biomedical_sciences/news_events/articles_and_stories/employment/2011_04_scientists_who_write.htmlClint Gardnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13534333959460032669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790062.post-75449698164197351472017-02-07T09:42:59.750-07:002017-02-07T09:42:59.750-07:00Welcome aboard, Tyler! So many people seem to believe that it is completely limited to writing lab reports, field notes, or the like. Have you read any Stephen Jay Gould? I recall that one of his goals was to show that writing in the sciences could be interesting, entertaining, and artful, yet still scientific. I would venture to say that some scientists were really excellent and provocative writers. I mean think about it: Einstein, Newton, Huxley, Darwin, etc. all wrote extensively outside the typical genres of modern science.Clint Gardnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13534333959460032669noreply@blogger.com
